Ladybirds Day Nursery was established in 2001 and is based in the heart of Brixton, Plymouth. In September 2015 the nursery changed ownership & is now owned by Janine Lissack. The Nursery is fresh, bright and modern, in an area that welcomes early years care. Ladybirds can provide a friendly, reassuring setting for your child to flourish.

Pre-school care offers many benefits to your child, as well as a secure environment. Ladybirds recognise that as well as any physical needs, the most important aspects of a child’s development are fostered in an appropriate play situation.

Equipment/facilities available

Ladybirds Day Nursery is equipped to provide areas for specific use; an area for sand, water & messy play, quiet areas for books, jigsaws & games, activities for intellectually developing the child, large spacious area for role play, construction activities & floor games. We also have sole use of a large garden for physical play. All the activities we prepare at Ladybirds are underpinned by the seven areas of the EYFS. (Early Years Foundation Stage) All of the equipment used by Ladybirds children is of the highest standard and appropriate to the age of the child using it.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is room-based to support children to reach their highest potential, reaching goals through play and adult-led activities. We use the EYFS to support all children in All areas of development through planned activities and child-led play.

New admissions

We encourage parents to come to the setting for a show around, a chance to talk to one of our senior staff members and to get a feel for what service we offer in the setting. Due to ratios and staffing, we would recommend that parents call the office or e-mail us to book a time so that we can make sure there is someone available to give you a full viewing and allow time for us to answer any questions you may have.

Staff at Ladybirds

Our staff have many years experience looking after children in all age groups, including their own. It is Ladybirds policy to employ staff who are dedicated to the job and highly motivated. All our staff hold current first aid certificates and have various qualifications including NNEB, BTEC Diploma & NVQ levels 2 and 3 in Childcare and Degrees in Early Years. We have one Apprentice working towards the Level 3 Children & Young Peoples Workforce qualification. All staff are Fully DBS checked. We feel it is important to encourage people into our profession and we, therefore, employ trainees who are looking to gain qualifications as well as valuable experience.
